Your writing is so beautiful, Kathie, and your wit and humour are a miracle in the light of such challenging times. Despite those hours with persistent low oxygen, your brain has come through unscathed. Not to press too hard on the lung puns, but you are owed a little breather from your medical ordeals, and I add my prayers to all the others in your support that you will get one.
Since I admire your writing and have been following your story, your compliment is high praise indeed. So thank you so much, Ros! I will tell you, I was raised by two parents from the Greatest Generation and I owe my resilience to them. Humour is my way to cope and process, as is writing. Hopefully, 2025 will bring levitation lessons for me 😉
I have 58 Substacks recommending mine at the moment but yours has been sending so many people my way recently that I thought I should check it out (the title resonates too) ... and what a treat! I subscribe to rather a lot, but I shall be keeping an eye out for your updates and trust your levitation lessons are on their way :-)
You write in a way that makes me feel I am with you. Remember that over lonely times. I hope you continue to feel God's presence too--the God who suffers for and with the suffering.
That’s such a nice compliment, thank you so much. God has been a comfort and strength, and the prayers of his people have uplifted me during the worst moments. Bless you.
Little did you know that this best friend was trying to convince Sarah to video you when you were all drugged up and talking foolishness so we could have the goods on you. lol 😜.
Well written my friend. I am always amazed how you find the words and the positive attitude while going through the worst that life can throw at you. I Love you girl, keeping you in prayer always. ❤️🙏
Oh Kathie, you have been through so much. I still pray for healing for you.
One of our neighbours (the wife of the one who caused a flood into our unit) was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. She had gone through the chemo and radiation. She is now in remission. They recently moved, so I am not sure how she is at the moment. My daughter can relate to the hospital food. Her meals were blah and unappealing. She didn't have their lunch yesterday. She had given birth to a girl New Year's day. She was not the first baby born New Year's day. She rarely got any sleep because the nurse came in to check on her and the baby every two hours. She gets to go home today (January 3rd). Hopefully everything will be okay when they go home. The baby is a dream. She sleeps most of the time. Anyways, I continue to pray for you to go into remission. I actually pray that the tumours become non-existent and that you have a full bill of health. Your positivity is great because those, like me can become positive with you. Keep your laughter, and your positive attitude. I think they will help you through this and Jesus of course! Love you.
Thanks, Sharon. I appreciate your prayers and encouragement. Staying positive is my goal and laughter, even with a morbid sense of humour, makes it easier. I saw the photos of you with the baby. I’m so happy for you and your family. Babies bring us hope for the future. 🙏🏼❤️
Oh Kathie, what a journey - and wonderful sense of humour through it all. Will keep praying for your complete healing and recovery. You are an inspiration!
Thanks Violet. You have to keep an upbeat attitude and find the humor in it. Otherwise you can become overwhelmed with fear and become depressed. Itbeing positive affects side effects for the better. Thanks for reading 🙏🏼❤️
Thinking of you Kathie and praying for your recovery and your comfort, physically and emotionally, along this path. Thanks for sharing so eloquently about your experience. Sending love.
Outstanding read of your journey. Thank you for your honest and raw truth to the ugliest of cancer yet the grace of a loving God in our times of immense suffering. You are not alone. Praying for you daily.
